TRAINING

WESTAR Council:

Our Training Program works closely with air pollution control agencies in fifteen western states to understand priority training needs, and to identify, design, develop and deliver needed, cost-effective, responsive, and western-states-focused training courses targeted at meeting these priority needs. WESTAR’s educational opportunities enable our member air quality professionals to quickly learn new job responsibilities and maintain, enhance, and update skills in their existing areas of responsibility to effectively and efficiently serve the needs of their constituencies.

WESTAR Training Program offers in-person training courses, and synchronous online learning.  The training courses included in the calendar are confirmed for CY2025. Additional courses will be added as logistics are confirmed. For more information, please contact Jeff Gabler, Training Manager at (503) 744-0486 or email Jeff Gabler

AirKnowledge:

AirKnowledge is a national training program that offers self-instructional training materials focused on program areas of the Clean Air Act (CAA).  These self-instructional materials are arranged by eight curricula including: Air Pollution Basics, Air Quality Planning, Permitting, Air Quality Modeling, Ambient Air Monitoring, Emissions Inventories, Air Toxics Rule Development and Implementation, and Source Emissions Testing and Source Emissions Monitoring.

Click here to access the AirKnowledge training opportunities.  This website is intended for State/Local/Tribal air quality professionals only.

2025 Training Schedule

WESTAR Council is currently in the process of scheduling training courses, workshops, conferences and meetings to be offered during CY2025. The schedule lists only confirmed CY2025 educational opportunities. The information listed is updated frequently when additional courses are confirmed. Please check this page for the most up-to-date information. For more information, please contact Jeff Gabler, Training Manager at (503) 744-0486 or email Jeff Gabler

**Please note that WESTAR’s funding and mission limit attendance at WESTAR’s educational opportunities to staff from government air pollution control agencies.**
